Since it’s opening in fall 16’, the Makerspace has been home to many exiting projects ranging from robotic arms to high power rockets. One of the most exciting projects however, is a food computer made by grad student Jonas Guenther and his team of motivated entrepreneurs! A food computer is a specialized growing chamber in which climate, energy, and plant growth are controlled and monitored. One of the goals of the project is to reduce the…

SpaceX Falcon 9 SES-10 Launch Viewing
The Hyperloop team of NYU did a live screening of the launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 SES-10 in the GreenHouse area. This was the first time SpaceX used a previously launched rocket (i.e. the Falcon 9). The participants were able to see everything from the launch until the landing of the rocket.
Arduino workshop 1
Tau Beta Pi, the honors engineering society, and Design for America of NYU collaborated to organize the first Arduino workshop for this semester. This workshop was facilitated by one of our TAs, GuiHui Liu. Gui planned a simple workshop for the students who had never programmed or used an Arduino before. For simplicity, we grouped the students into teams. In this workshop, students learned how to LEDs and potentiometers.. Gui started the workshop with the basics of Arduino,…
CAM workshop 1
This was a workshop organized by Design for America of NYU, and facilitated by me. Heads up, this might be a little on the technical side of things, so I took some liberty of including external links: In the workshop, I taught students to create G-code file meant for computer aided machining, using Autodesk Fusion 360. We used a DXF file to create a 3D model using fusion. After that, we used the CAM feature in fusion and…
