Spectrum: Exploring AR Applications for Customer Service. How will the booming AR market improve customer service across enterprises? NYC Media Lab is seeing graduate student teams to partner with Spectrum to ideate and brainstorm how AR can help consumers interact and engage with Spectrum products. The selected teams will explore compelling use cases, develop a proof of concept, and advise and make recommendations on what may be achievable in the next two to three years.
Award: $5,000 per team.

Associated Press: Visualizing Health and Science News in AR. Explore the visualization of health and science news in augmented reality by creating and testing prototypes with users and publishing the results. Working with journalists and digital media experts at the Associated Press, the selected team of graduate student AR developers and designers will develop an app to engage users on health and science topics.
Award: $20,000 for 1 faculty/student team

Havas: The Future of NYC Transportation. Transportation is key to movement, access, and connections. Havas will partner with NYC Media Lab to launch an open call for NYC universities to imagine the future of transportation in cities. Key challenge questions include: How will technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer vision shape the future of transportation in cities? How will data and technology transform how we experience, access and move within cities?
Award: $5,000 per team
