Introducing MakerSpace Digital Badges!

Badges

The MakerSpace is excited to introduce the addition of a digital badging program that will allow you to acquire new skills and display your achievements. These badges will demonstrate new skills and competencies gained from attending a series of our workshops and machine trainings. Each badge earned can be added to your LinkedIn, portfolio, or resumé to show off your understanding of leading softwares and hardware, machines and tools, the design thinking process, and much more!

To begin the badging process, visit our digital badges page here and click on the badge that you would like to begin working towards. On each badging page, you will find a list of corresponding workshops and/or trainings that must be fulfilled before you can claim your badge. You can choose the workshops and trainings that best suit your interests, allowing you to attain the skills you may need for a school or personal projects or for your professional career. You are not required to complete every workshop or training under a given track, but the workshops and trainings listed can help strengthen your understanding and help you demonstrate mastery of the given subject matter. We’ll continue to add new workshops to the badge tracks each semester, so keep an eye out for additions coming Spring 2021.

During the Fall 2020 Semester, the MakerSpace will be offering the following badging tracks: Computer Aided Design and 3D Printing, Product Design, Rapid Prototyping and Fabrication, Digital Design, Electronics Foundations, Digital Craft, Design Thinking, Sustainable Design, and Hand Craft.

Once you have satisfied the desired badge requirements, fill out this completed badge application for each badge that you complete. Our team will review your application and determine whether you are eligible to receive the badge. Once you have been approved, we will send you a digital certification package that includes everything you need to share your certification with the world including the badge icon and text for your resumé, portfolio, and LinkedIn. To validate your certification and to ensure compliance with our badging procedure, successful badge recipients will have their name displayed on the MakerSpace website under on our ‘Certified Badge Holders’ section. To sign up for a workshop, visit our Events Page. To sign up for a training, visit our Training and Reservations Page

At the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester, we will also be adding two additional digital badge tracks: Circuit Design and Fabrication as well as Computer Aided Manufacturing. Stay tuned for more updates from the MakerSpace Design Lab and have fun collecting your badges!
